The 2023 Flinders Classic 16 is on!!!
EVENT DATES:
- Tuesday 22nd of August – Arrive & setup camp, meet your ride mates and prep for an early start!
- Wednesday the 23rd of August – Day 1 of Riding – 8am sharp at the entrance car park ready for the riders briefing. Then group up and start riding – You will be back by about 4:30pm
- Thursday 24th of August – Day 2 of Riding
- Friday 25th of August – Day 3 of Riding – Friday night Raffle Night!!!
- Saturday 26th of August – Day 4 of Riding – Saturday night Awards night and Charity Auction!!!
- Sunday 27th of August – Pack up and depart.

Bring multiple bikes if you want as we can all swap groups throughout the days. If you want to start in Hard Enduro and swap to ADV riding another day, no problems at all.

This information guide is everything you need to know about the upcoming 2023 Flinders Classic XVI Motorcycle Event being held in the heart of the Flinders Ranges in South Australia from the 22nd to the 27th of August 2023.

THE CAUSE – SUICIDE PREVENTION
We motorcyclists are very good at raising awareness and supporting a cause. Last year at this event, riders, station owners, staff and our hosts all chipped in and raised $15,000 for the Black Dog Institute for Suicide Prevention. Most of us have been affected either directly or indirectly when it comes to Suicide and having an event like this where we can have such a positive effect on each other can be life saving!!! We are continuing our support of the Black Dog Institute this year and plan on raising even more money and awareness with your help!

There is a free payphone at the Village. The nearest Mobile coverage is a 40 klm round
trip away in either BLINMAN or PARACHILNA. There is no wifi or mobile phone coverage whatsoever at
Angorichina Village.

Firstly, this event is all about supporting the local community of the Flinders Ranges and
fuel/alcohol/snacks/smokes/boxes of water and other general supplies are all available from home base if needed. We would love to see you buy your beer up here rather than bring it up from Adelaide!

Come up on the Tuesday and leave Sunday if time allows. There will be no guided rides outside of the main 4 days, but your event insurance will still be valid. Camping fees apply if you decide to stay extra nights.

This is a Motorcycling South Australia (MSA) Sanctioned ride for LICENSED RIDERS with REGISTERED BIKES ONLY!
YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN PERSONAL AMBULANCE COVER – If you need a ride in a Royal Flying Doctors plane and don’t have Ambulance Cover it can cost you $40,000!
THE LOCATION:
The Flinders Ranges is one of the greatest remote places to ride. People forge a lifelong relationship with this place after being there just once. I have been coming here for 30 years now. Some years it’s so green you would think crops could be harvested, other years there is not a blade of ground cover to be seen.
There are hundreds of incredible tracks twisting their way through mountain ranges, gorges, riverbeds and flood plains and this also comes with its dangers mainly Kangaroos, Emu’s, Goats, Sheep, Cattle, Washouts, Blind Corners and Heavy Dust at times.
Due to the remoteness of this the Flinders Ranges and the Stations we ride on, it can be many hours before you are recovered which means you die from an injury that is normally non-life threatening if treated quickly. This is a real risk you need to consider before joining this ride event.
Infectious Disease Stuff you need to know:
We need to adhere to all government directives
SHENANIGANS, NIGHT NOISES, SNORING
You will be with 120 other moto legends that get to like their hair down now and then. If you find noise at night a distraction to your sleep, BRING EAR PLUGS. Noise complaints are generally ignored unless directed at you by Dave and Caroline who own the property.
I Highly recommend DE-WALT Disposable earplugs available from Bunnings.
FUEL
91 & 98 Octane available along with Diesel for your vehicles.
If you are planning to arrive after 5pm on Tuesday, then make sure you have a full tank of fuel in your bike to avoid the line up on Wednesday Morning.

7 Different Disciplines of riding in Groups of either 10 or 20
ADVENTURE RIDING
Minimum Capacity 250cc
Minimum Fuel Range 250klm
Minimum Capable Cruising Speed of 100kph
ADVENTURE RIDING 1 (Amateur/Intermediate) 20 Riders
You haven’t been riding regularly for a fair while or only have a couple of years riding under your belt. You’re improving every ride and keen to ride with a group in the same level. Dirt roads and 4×4 tracks are comfortable for you and will tackle a bit of sand if you have to. – Group of 20
ADVENTURE RIDING 2 (Intermediate/Advanced) 20 Riders
Suit anyone on an ADV Bike or Dual-sport with reasonable experience in off road riding. You can ride dirt roads, 4×4 tracks and Sand doesn’t bother you too much.
ADVANCED ADVENTURE RIDING (Advanced Skill Level) 10 riders
You have many years of off road experience and know how to handle a bigger bike with the best of them. Dirt Roads, Station Tracks, 4×4 Tracks, Hill Climbs, Creek Beds…Anything Goes! – Small group of 10
ENDURO
Minimum Capacity 125cc 2 Stroke
Minimum Fuel Range 110klm
Minimum Capable Cruising Speed of 80kph
1 – ADVANCED ENDURO RIDERS – Riding for 10+ years and classing yourself as a very good rider capable of riding in any conditions over any terrain besides Hard Enduro – Group of 20
2 – INTERMEDIATE ENDURO RIDERS – Experienced Enduro/Trail Riders that can handle themselves in most conditions and will have a crack at some harder stuff if needed. – Group of 20
3 – AMATEUR ENDURO RIDERS – You haven’t been riding regularly for a fair while or only have a couple of years riding under your belt. You’re improving every ride and keen to ride with a group in the same level. – Group of 20
HARD ENDURO
Suits Trials Riders on Enduro Bikes or riders who regularly practice or compete in Hard Enduro Disciplines – A good day for you is traveling 30klm in 7 hrs over boulders. – Group of 10
Event FAQs
The Flidners Classic takes a huge amount of time, money & effort to organise due to it being in such a remote and isolated area. We can organise a Refund for you but will you will forfeit $80 if you cancel before the 1st of August and $250 after the 1st of August 2023.
