The Flinders Ranges ADVENTURE CLASSIC is on!

THE LOCATION:

The Flinders Ranges is one of the greatest remote places to ride. People forge a lifelong relationship with this place after being there just once. I have been coming here for 30 years now. Some years it’s so green you would think crops could be harvested, other years there is not a blade of ground cover to be seen. At the moment, its the Greenest its been since 2016!!!

There are hundreds of incredible tracks twisting their way through mountain ranges, gorges, riverbeds and flood plains and this also comes with its dangers mainly Kangaroos, Emu’s, Goats, Sheep, Cattle, Washouts, Blind Corners and Heavy Dust at times but with Risk comes the Rewards!!!

3 Different Disciplines of riding in Groups of 15

Multiple Station rides usually a “NO MOTORCYCLE” zone. These amazing land owners open up their places to us for this event. We are very privileged to be able to traverse the country they keep and we show due respect when riding it.

Expert Lead riders to guide you through this incredible place! They have been riding this event and this area for many years and are there to show you an incredible time and keep you safe so you can tell the story!

Due to the remoteness of this the Flinders Ranges and the Stations we ride on, if you come unstuck….it can be many hours before you are recovered which means you could die from an injury that is normally non-life threatening if treated quickly. This is a real risk you need to consider before joining this ride event.

Arrive WEDNESDAY the 1st of May

Ride – THURSDAY 2nd, FRIDAY the 3rd, SATURDAY the 4th and depart SUNDAY the 5th.

SATURDAY NIGHT – Raffle to raise money for the BLACK DOG INSTITUTE for Suicide Prevention.

3 Days of epic riding through the Flinders Ranges in small groups with some of the most experienced Lead Riders you will be privileged to ride with.

This is a Motorcycling South Australia (MSA) Sanctioned ride for LICENSED RIDERS with REGISTERED BIKES ONLY!

YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN PERSONAL AMBULANCE COVER – If you need a ride in a Royal Flying Doctors plane and don’t have Ambulance Cover it can cost you $40,000!

Firstly, this event is all about supporting the local community of the Flinders Ranges and fuel/alcohol/snacks/smokes/boxes of water and other general supplies are all available from home base if needed.

We would love to see you buy your beer up here rather than bring it up from Adelaide!

Angorichina Village in the heart of the Flinders Ranges between Parachilna and Blinman. This huge tourist park will be our HQ for the week and we will ride from and back to this base each day through multiple Stations and scenic routes. Dave and Caroline are owners and operators of the village.

If you want to stay in Cabins or Dorms instead of camping, its best to Email the village now on ango1@westnet.com.au and secure one through them directly as we cant book them for you!

FUEL
91 & 98 Octane available along with Diesel for your vehicles.
If you are planning to arrive after 5pm on Wednesday, make sure you have a full tank of fuel in your bike & your jerry can full, to avoid the line up on Wednesday Morning.

THE CAUSE – SUICIDE PREVENTION

We motorcyclists are very good at raising awareness and supporting a cause. At The Flinders Classic 16 in August 2023, riders, station owners, staff and our hosts all chipped in and raised $40,000 for the Black Dog Institute for Suicide Prevention. Most of us have been affected either directly or indirectly when it comes to Suicide and having an event like this where we can have such a positive effect on each other can be life saving!!! We are continuing our support of the Black Dog Institute this year and plan on raising even more money and awareness with your help!

There will be a raffle and Charity Auction with great prizes available on the Saturday Night and we encourage you or your business to bring something to the raffle or auction for charity and get on board for this amazing cause which is Suicide Prevention!

RIDING CATEGORIES

ADV 1 – SINGLE or MULTI CYLINDER ADV RIDING (15 Riders MAX) – LEAD RIDER – Martin Winters – a hugely experienced ADV rider, Youtube V-logger and Page owner of SAABR Facebook Group riding a Honda Transalp 750 or a Suzuki DRZ400 with many years of lead riding through the Flinders Ranges and the #1 ADV leader for the Flinders Classic. Martin will take care of all the experienced ADV riders looking to enjoy what the Flinders Ranges has to offer for this event!

This class will suit Multi Cylinder or Single Cylinder Bikes and riders looking for epic trails, insane views at a reasonable Adventure Riding Pace.

Minimum Fuel Range 250km

ADV 2 – SINGLE or MULTI CYLINDER & ADVANCED ADV RIDING (15 Riders MAX) – LEAD RIDER – Jarrod Barnard – With over a decade of Flinders Classic experience and our Flinders Classic ENDURO lead rider he will take care of those looking for a bit more pace and a few more challenges through the Flinders. Faster and more technical on smaller bikes. Jarrod will be on a KTM 500 EXC

This Class will suit Experienced Multi or Single Cylinder Bikes and riders looking for more challenging Adventure Riding at a Good Pace.

Minimum Fuel Range 250km

ADV 3 – NEWBIES and CASUAL ADV RIDING (15 Riders MAX) – LEAD RIDER – Stuart Duisberg – Event coordinator, ADV rider instructor and more than 15 years of Flinders Classic rides under the belt, Stu will guide those looking to take on the Flinders Ranges for the first time or those looking for a chilled out pace through some Flinders Ranges Magic. A remote area Expert First Aider you will be in great hands. Stu will be coaching throughout the rides each day so a great opportunity to pick up some fundamental skills whilst enjoying this spectacular place. Stu rides a Suzuki DR650 & Kawasaki Super Sherpa 250

This Class will suit Riders with less experience off road on either Single or Multi Cylinder Adventure Bikes looking for epic trails, insane views at a slower pace.

BACKUP AND SUPPORT – Lead Riders will have Satellite Phones provided by Electric Bug and there will be support vehicles with trailers.

AMBULANCE COVER – You must have personal ambulance cover to attend this event.

This Event is a MOTORCYCLING SA EVENT – LICENSED RIDERS on REGISTERED and ROADWORTHY BIKES only.

ACCOMMODATION & FUEL

Feel free to bring Swags, Caravans, Campers, Camper Trailers, Big Tents, Pit tents, Awnings…whatever you feel comfortable in. Fire pits will be available throughout the village, bags of firewood are available or bring your own wood if you have it.

CATERING

You will be spoiled on this event with awesome dishes from Le Fresh Catering Wednesday Night, then Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Thursday, Breakfast & Lunch Friday then PIZZA night at the BLINMAN HOTEL Friday Night and then Saturday Breakfast Lunch and Dinner from Le Fresh Catering again! Sunday Morning a selection of Cereal and Coffee & Tea will be available to get you on the road for the trip home!

SHENANIGANS, NIGHT NOISES, SNORING
You will be with 50 other moto legends that get to like their hair down now and then. If you find noise at night a distraction to your sleep, BRING EAR PLUGS. Noise complaints are generally ignored unless directed at you by Dave and Caroline who own the property.
I Highly recommend DE-WALT Disposable earplugs available from Bunnings.
